Your portable spa filter is a critical element in the function and longevity of the system. A filter or cartridge filter as they are commonly known is used to pick up smaller particles and stop debris entering the spas main pumping system. If this filter becomes clogged it removes its ability to effectively filter the water through the system and will allow sometimes potentially hazardous particles to stay in the water contaminating the ph levels of the spa. We recommend cleaning the filter once a weeks. The filter will just screw out, refer to your user manual for how to remove the filter correctly.
Once removed, give the filter a good clean and soak if you have additional filters. The filter will comprise of a pleated white material that is easily hosed off. If the white filter area has broken down at all, it’s time to replace your filter these should be replaced every twelve months. Always turn your spa power off before investigating any mechanical parts or cleaning or replacing your filter. This is not only for your safety, but also to make sure the spa isn’t in the middle of a cleaning cycle while maintenance is taking place. If this happens it could potentially destroy other components of the spa so always ensure all power to the unit is switched off.
